The Lairs:

For each lair, the surname of the purchaser is given. Lairs which had not been purchased before about 2021, or which are not available for sale, are not listed here. Lairs were frequently bought in pairs, sometimes in multiples. The information has been taken from a copy of the Cemetery Lair Plan kindly provided by Alan Reid.

The Gravestones:

For most of the stones, the text here is not a word-for-word transcript. There are only a few photographs here. However, Find A Grave has photos of nearly all the stones.

Lair purchasers and listings given up to early 2022. These pages will not be continually updated.

Plan[inside the chapel] This chapel was erected AD 1895-97 by Sir John Leng MP to the glory of God and to the dear memory of his wife Dame Emily Leng born AD 1829 Married 1851 Passed into eternal life 1894. Her children arise and call her blessed, Her husband also praises her. And by his side there moved a form of beauty, strewing sweet flowers along his path of life. And looking up with meek and love-lent duty they called her angel but he called her wife. Also of Dame Mary Leng his second espousal born at Kirriemuir 1852 sister of Sir James Low Bt of Kilmaron, first Lord Provost of Dundee, married 1897, died 1938. Long devoted to her parents she became the faithful partner, cheerful and bright companion of her husband's later years. On the west side of this chapel are interred the earthly remains of Sir John Leng MP for Dundee 1889 - 1906, journalist, managing editor and proprietor of the 'Dundee Advertiser' and founder of several popular journals 1851 to 1906. He adopted the motto and strove to live and die 'in fide spe et charitate'.Leng56.420280, -2.911398
