| Edinburgh 13 January 1852 … on behalf of Andrew Smith, upholsterer Dundee & Watson Allan or Smith his spouse … with a feu by Berry, Tayfield to George Keay , searcher of the Customs then residing Dundee & disp. by said George Keay, then collector of the Customs at Anstruther, to said Andrew Smith … on 16 December 1841 Berry feued to George Keay ground on N side of road leading W from Newport Ferry Pier, 7 falls Scots, bounded by said road & a retaining wall built by the Tay Ferries Trustees along the N side of said road leading from the Ferry Pier towards Woodhaven on S; by a wall or bulwark lately erected by Berry along the shore of the Tay at high water mark on N; and on W & E by march stones placed at each of the said boundary walls and separating this piece of ground from other lands belonging to Berry … expressly on leaving by George Keay, the land & buildings to be made first to be offered back to Berry … [new sasine gives dimensions thus - ] bounded N by a wall erected by George Keay upon the site of that portion which formerly extended along said subjects of the wall or bulwark erected by Berry along the shore … & which portion was taken down by George Keay … previous to a new wall being built … & dwelling house built by George Keay … & another wall built by him on the E boundary … RS 3/2572/149 |
